Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBMU) significantly advanced its academic, educational, and international relations by participating in the Baghdad International Book Fair from September 10 to 13, and the co-located International University Recruitment Fair.

Showcasing Institutional Capabilities and Global Ambitions

SBMU's attendance was formalized through an official invitation from the Director General of Scientific and Academic Cooperation of the Culture and Communication Organization of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The primary goals were to showcase the university's robust educational, research, and therapeutic capacities, cultivate new avenues for scientific collaboration, and attract prospective international students.

The Iranian delegation representing SBMU provided a comprehensive overview of the university’s potential across education, research, treatment, and student services. A crucial part of their activity involved detailing the international student admission procedures to the numerous interested visitors.

Forging Key International Partnerships

The event served as a vital platform for high-level diplomatic and academic exchange:

• Al-Hikmat University, Baghdad: Dr. Saeed Abdulhadi Al-Marahij, President of Al-Hikmat University, and Dr. Maher Muhammad Awad Al-Amiri, Deputy of Education, visited the SBMU booth. They highlighted the strong potential for fruitful collaboration in international student recruitment, faculty exchange, and joint scientific endeavors. Both parties agreed to continue supplementary negotiations.
• Al-Hikmat University: SBMU representatives also visited Al-Hikmat University, discovering its potential in areas of mutual interest and holding constructive discussions with its officials.
• University of Karbala: Dr. Karrar Mahmoud Shakir, President of the University of Karbala, and Professor Zaman Sabah, a faculty member of its School of Pharmacy, engaged with SBMU representatives to discuss potential contributions in the pharmaceutical fields.
• Kuwait University: Dr. Taleb Al-Moussawi, President of Kuwait University, and his delegation visited the SBMU booth and expressed satisfaction with the university's professional presentation and activities over the three days, underscoring the importance of continued communication and follow-up negotiations.  

Successful Outreach and Future Prospects

SBMU 's successful presentation at the International University Recruitment Fair proved an invaluable opportunity to demonstrate its international competence and establish a foundation for expanded academic, scientific, and research partnerships.

On the sidelines of the recruitment fair, promotional booklets and brochures detailing the university and its various majors were distributed to visitors. A significant number of attendees expressed keen interest and readiness to pursue their studies in diverse programs at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, indicating a promising outlook for future international enrollment and collaboration.
